ASTM F1959: ASTM F1959, Standard Test Method for Determining the Arc Rating of Materials for Clothing, is a large-scale arc flash evaluation used to determine the Arc Rating (ATPV or Ebt) of a fabric or a multi-layer combination of fabrics. Prior to testing, samples are laundered three times and dried once in accordance with AATCC TM 135. ASTM F1959 is one part of the ASTM F1506 specification; full initial testing and ongoing testing of the small-scale methods is required for compliance with ASTM F1506, which is cited by NFPA 70E.

NFPA 70E: NFPA 70E requirements for safe work practices to protect personnel by reducing exposure to major electrical hazards. Originally developed at OSHA's request, NFPA 70E helps companies and employees avoid workplace injuries and fatalities due to shock, electrocution, arc flash, and arc blast, and assists in complying with OSHA 1910 Subpart S and OSHA 1926 Subpart K.
